The Chinese smartphone maker, OnePlus, had officially unveiled its latest OxygenOS 14 custom UI based on the Android 14 operating system last month and now, the brand has made the OxygenOS 14 first open beta update available to its Nord 3 smartphone.

OnePlus Nord 3 – OxygenOS 14 Open Beta 1 Update

The open beta 1 update of the OxygenOS 14 custom UI that has been made available for the OnePlus Nord 3 smartphone, is only for the Indian users of the device, and it should be noted that as this is the beta version, it will not be as stable as the stable versions of the OxygenOS.

Regarding the improvements and changes that will be brought with the beta update, it will upgrade the Aquamorphic Design by bringing a natural, gentle, and a clearer color style, along with Aquamorphic-themed ringtones and revamped system notification sounds. Improvements will also be brought to the cloud photo service from Google’s Photos app and also in the photo & video permission management system.

Significant improvements will also be brought to system stability, launch speed of applications, as well as in the smoothness of animations. A carbon tracking AOD(always-on-display) is also part of the beta version.

Some of the known issues include the flashback issue caused when some cards are clicked, automatic triggering of the dual channel network acceleration function not working, and also the abnormal display issue in the bokeh icon when switched to front camera in portrait mode.

How to Apply?

Interested OnePlus Nord 3 Indian users can apply for the Beta program by visiting the device’s “Settings”, go to “About device”, click on “up to date”, press the icon on the top right corner, and then select “Beta program”. Following the necessary steps, users can submit their application.

The application submitted will be reviewed in the next five working days and if found eligible, the OxygenOS 14 beta 1 update will be rolled out to them within three days. Only 5,000 applicants will be selected, and users with carrier versions of the device won’t be considered eligible.

To note, before applying for the beta program, users should also make sure that their device currently has the latest OxygenOS 13.1 onboard, with a firmware version of CPH2491_13.1.0.581(EX01). Before updating, they must also ensure that there is at least 30% of battery charge left and the device also has 4G of free storage.

Others

For those who want to roll back to the previous stable version, they can do so by downloading the installation package from the respective OnePlus page, and after turning on the developer mode, they just have to install the package locally. After the rollback is complete, reboot the device to complete the process. Users should backup up their device before doing this, as all their data will be wiped out in the process.

In order to submit their feedback, Indian users of the OnePlus Nord 3 smartphone can dial “*#800#” on the Google dialer, and will be able to fill it up in the pop-up window which appears.

The upcoming Honor 8T Pro smartphone is now revealed to be powered by an octa-core processor with a primary clock speed of 2.4 GHz and will be having the Android 13-based operating system out of the box. It will also have the Magic OS 7.2 custom UI on top of it.

The database also reveals that the device will have multiple storage variants with four RAM options of 6GB, 8GB, 12GB & 16GB, and four internal storage options of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB & 1TB.

For its display, the device will be featuring an IPS LCD display panel with a screen size of 6.7″, and will have a FHD+ screen resolution and a refresh rate of 90Hz.

Coming to the cameras, the smartphone will sport a dual camera setup at its rear, with a 108MP main camera and an additional camera of 2MP. For selfies, the device will also have an 8MP front-facing camera as well.

Regarding its battery backup, the smartphone will be equipped with a 4500 mAh battery, which will support a 35W fast charging feature.

Other specifications of the device will include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and 5G network connectivity.

About its launch, we can expect it to take place this month itself, in the month of October 2023, and it will have its debut in China, the brand’s home market.

OnePlus, a leading Chinese smartphone maker, is expected to debut its next flagship smartphone – the OnePlus 12 smartphone in the Chinese market by the end of this year in December 2023, and in the global market next year in January 2024.

With its launch that is likely to take place in two months or so, the camera specifications of the device has been tipped again.

This update comes from the Chinese tipster – Digital Chat Station, who has shared that the upcoming OnePlus 12 smartphone will be arriving sporting a 50MP IMX966 OIS main camera, a 48MP ultrawide camera, and a 64MP OV64B OIS periscope telephoto camera. The tipster had previously tipped the camera specs and now, a change in the ultrawide angle lens has been pointed out.

Early last month in September, the 5K render images of the OnePlus 12 device were shared online, and we had got an idea on how the camera module of the upcoming smartphone would look like. It has a similar circular rear camera module that we have already seen on the OnePlus 11 and other OnePlus devices, featuring three of its cameras within it. The LED flashlight, unlike before, is however outside the camera module, at the top-left corner of the rear panel.

Rumours are rife that Vivo will unveil the Vivo X100 series of smartphones in November in China. While the lineup is said to include three models, the company may only unveil the Vivo X100 and X100 Pro first. A new leak, courtesy of tipster Digital Chat Station, has leaked the battery and charging capabilities of the Vivo X100 lineup.

Based on a recent Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station, the Vivo X100 will pack a 5,000mAh battery that supports 120W charging. On the other hand, the Vivo X100 Pro will have a 5,100mAh battery with 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

The Vivo X100 and X100 Pro are expected to feature the Dimensity 9300, which is expected to go official at some point this month. As mentioned above, the X100 and its Pro version are expected to launch in November in China.

As per reports, the Vivo X100 Pro+ will be announced in the first quarter of 2024. It is rumoured to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform, which will debut later this month.

The new leak suggests that the X100 Pro+ will pack a 5,400mAh battery and support 100W wired charging. It is also expected to support 50W wireless charging.

Other reports have claimed that Vivo will also unveil the Vivo X Fold 3, X Fold 3 Pro, and X Flip 2 in Q1 2024. It remains to be seen whether these foldable phones and the X100 Pro+ will debut together.

The California-based tech giant, Google, had previously promised to bring the Gmail and Calendar apps that are widely being used to smartwatch devices and with respect to this had brought the Gmail app to smartwatches running on the Wear OS operating system. Following this, a week later, the brand also introduced the Calendar app optimized for smartwatches.

The Calendar app that has now been introduced for smartwatch devices, unlike the normal Calendar app that is most commonly being used by all, doesn’t have a month or week view, but will just display calendar entries and will be able to sync with the Google account that is set as the default account on the paired smartwatch.

The app will also allow users to click and view more details regarding reminders or location. However, users won’t be able to make any sort of edits. To add, similar to the watch face integrated with the Gmail app, there is also a watch face with the Calendar app shortcut on it. Two tiles will also be there, which will display the next calendar event, whereas the other will show its users the next tasks (taken from Google Tasks).

To install the app, users will have to visit the Google Play Store app on the smartwatch and search for the Calendar app. Download it and wait until it’s installed. Once installed, the app will automatically sync with the Google account on the smartwatch device and will be ready to be used. To note, the Calendar app will only be available on smartwatches running on Wear OS 3.0 or its other newer versions.

The Japanese tech company, Sony, has now introduced a new gaming console with the moniker – PS5 Slim, featuring a smaller form factor design. It will be arriving in markets next month, in November 2023.

Sony PS5 Slim Introduced

This announcement has arrived following the lot many rumors that had surrounded the gaming console and also about Sony’s plan to introduce such a device. As previously mentioned, the device indeed features the same technologies as the normal PS5 but comes with a smaller form factor design.

There are two versions for the PS5 Slim gaming console, one with a disc drive(Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive) and the Digital Edition version. The two are 30% smaller in terms of volume when compared to the previous PS5 model, and regarding the weight, they weigh 18% and 24% respectively, than before.

Speaking more about its design, the gaming console has four separate cover panels. The top portion of the device has a glossy touch, whereas the bottom part comes with a matte finish. On each of its sides, there are two slits given, and at its front, two USB type-C ports have been given as well. The previous PS5 model only had one USB type-C port, along with a USB type-A port. The model with a disc drive also has an added bulge at the side for the removable disc drive

To add, Sony has also included a horizontal stand for the newly unveiled gaming console. One more thing to add here is that the new PS5 Slim also has a storage of 1TB, compared to the 825GB storage given on the older model.

Regarding the price, Sony’s PS5 has been introduced in different global markets with price points of USD 499.99, EUR 549.99, GBP 479.99, and JPY 66,980, for the model with a disc drive. The Digital Edition version is priced at USD 449.99, EUR 449.99, GBP 389.99, and JPY 59,980. A new vertical stand, which will be compatible with all the PS5 models, has also been introduced by the brand, and it will have a price tag of USD 29.99 in the United States.

Google unveiled two of its Pixel 8 series devices early this month on the 4th of October 2023 and now, the AI Wallpapers app of the Pixel 8 smartphone has been listed on Play Store.

Pixel 8 AI Wallpapers App Listed on Play Store

The Generative AI Wallpapers app from Google which has been introduced in the Pixel 8 smartphone can now be downloaded from Google’s Play Store and be used on a compatible or eligible smartphone device. Android smartphone users by selecting a color along with the custom prompts that have been given on the app, will be able to create their own personalized wallpapers.

To add, users can tap on “Inspire me”, which will automatically generate the wallpaper within the app, without the need for any prompts. Users can also modify the prompts of the created wallpapers by simply tapping on the pencil icon given.

Speaking more about the app, it has an AI-generated text-to-image diffusion model that helps in generating the AI wallpaper. To note, metadata will also be added to the wallpapers that are generated in the app, comprising of the AI wallpaper version, prompts that were used to generate the wallpaper, the transform matrix, as well as a credit line stating “AI-generated with Google”.

Some of the themes that one will be able to find in the app will include –

• X-ray
• Night
• Terrain
• Translucent
• Luminous
• Painting
• Texture
• Bloom
• Soft-Focus
• Volcanic

As of now, users won’t be able to export the wallpapers that have been created in the app, but with root access, it can be done.
